Licensed Baccalaureate Social Worker
A Licensed Baccalaureate Social Worker renewal requires 15 hours of continuing education every 2 years.
Required hours
- At least 3 hours must be in ethics.
- At least 10 hours must be Category I (formal, organized learning).
What's capped
- No more than 5 hours may be Category II (independent or informal activities).

Licensed Clinical Social Worker
A Licensed Clinical Social Worker renewal requires 30 hours of continuing education every 2 years.
Required hours
- At least 6 hours must be in ethics.
- At least 20 hours must be Category I (formal, organized learning).
What's capped
- No more than 10 hours may be Category II (independent or informal activities).
- No more than 2 hours may come from volunteer service.
Approved supervisor add-on
Extra requirements if you supervise toward licensure.
- At least 14 hours must be in clinical supervision (a one-time requirement).
- At least 7 hours must be in clinical supervision within the previous 5 years.
- At least 14 hours must be in clinical supervision from a board-approved provider (a one-time requirement).
